Big Wild Goose Pagoda / 大雁塔
Originally constructed in 652 AD during the Tang Dynasty, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built to preserve Buddhist scriptures and sacred relics brought back from India by the famous monk Xuanzang (玄奘). Standing within the grounds of Da Ci'en Temple (大慈恩寺), it is one of Xi'an's most iconic landmarks and an enduring symbol of the city's importance in the history of Buddhism and the Silk Road.
