Zhangjiajie / 张家界

Zhangjiajie is a city in Hunan Province, southwest China, known for its unique sandstone mountains, forests, and beautiful natural scenery. It is a great destination for visitors who want to enjoy nature, outdoor activities, and famous attractions such as Tianmen Mountain and the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge. Zhangjiajie is most suitable for adults, families with older children, photographers, hikers, and nature lovers, while some mountain attractions may be less convenient for elderly visitors or visitors with limited mobility.

  • Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (张家界国家森林公园) – China's first national forest park, famous for its tall sandstone pillars, forests, and scenic walking trails.

  • Tianmen Mountain (天门山) – Known for Tianmen Cave (Heaven's Gate), the world's longest cable car, glass skywalks, and the winding 99-Bend Road.

  • April to  June (early) - brings green mountain and blooming flowers
  • September to November - Brings clear view and cool temperatures

Train Station Name (distance to city centre):

  • Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (张家界西站), 8,2 km to the city centre, 15 minutes by car.
  • Zhangjiajie Railway Station (张家界站), 3,2 km to the city centre, 7 minutes by cars.
