Category

Nature

Why Visit

  • Explore one of the world's deepest canyons, experience the '108 Hairpin Bends' mountain road, visit an ancient Tibetan village preserved for 1,300 years, and see the sacred natural stupa. A perfect blend of extreme natural beauty and authentic Tibetan culture.

Suggested Duration

1 day (6-8 hours for full experience); 2 days with overnight stay recommended

Best Visiting Time

May-October; avoid July-August heavy rain (potential rockfalls and temporary closures)

Suitable For

  • Adventure seekers, culture enthusiasts, photographers, families with older children

Tips

  • Altitude in main area is 2,000-2,900m (lower than downtown—easier on altitude sickness). Take the direct bus from Dukezong North Gate (09:00 departure, CNY 60 round-trip) or drive 1.5 hours via G214. Shambhala Stupa requires additional CNY 75 ticket and 4,250m altitude—bring warm clothes. Canyon rafting available May-October (extra CNY ~100).
