No. 1 Glacier (Tianshan Glacier) / 一号冰川
The source of the Urumqi River, located 120 km southwest of the city in the Tianshan Mountains. Formed 4.8 million years ago during the Third Glacial Period. Features well-preserved ancient glacial relics, ice caves, and rare snow lotus flowers. Known as the "Living Fossil of Glaciers." The closest modern glacier to a major city in the world.
